About
Hi,
My name is Paul Rooms, a translator and the creator of the MT Post-Editors Directory.
Over the years, my work has gradually shifted to MTPE, and I have dedicated a significant portion of my time to studying how MTPE works and the best ways to implement it profitably.
It is not far-fetched to predict that within a short period, MT will provide the majority of translations.
Traditional translation will become less significant and will be limited to specific fields.
Consequently, post-editors will outnumber traditional translators and will be increasingly in demand.
Many translators do not welcome MTPE, but I believe that problems must be turned into opportunities.
For this reason, I have created this directory for translators who are facing the profound transformation their industry is undergoing due to the rise of machine translation.
It is designed to serve as a promotional tool for translators and a work tool for language service providers or anyone seeking post-editors.
So, it’s nothing fancy but simple and straight to the point.
Currently (June 2025), this is a personal project that I hope, with your support, can eventually evolve into a significant resource for both clients and translators. All the revenue, after taxes and expenses, is being spent on advertising to LSPs’ vendor managers and project managers.
This directory will make it much easier for LSPs to find and hire post-editors, guaranteeing not only their professional competencies but, above all, their interest in this type of work, which, unfortunately, even today, many translators consider an undesirable fallback to their vanishing job.
However, history teaches us that technological innovations are inexorable and not only increase productivity and profitability but also improve working conditions.
During this period of transformation, there will undoubtedly be difficulties and setbacks.
Still, those who have welcomed the transformation will find themselves in an advantageous position.
